Protecting Native Forests to Regenerate Nature

We’re stoked to share that we’ve been selected as a finalist in the Sustainable Business Network Awards Regenerating Nature category. Forever Forests, along with our other finalist friends, are a testament to the power of how businesses can do good.

A JOURNEY ROOTED IN PURPOSE

The story of Forever Forests is one woven with threads of commitment, passion, and a profound reverence for the natural world. Founded by a small group of purpose-driven Kiwis brought together by the belief that we are custodians, not conquerors, of this planet, we aim to restore and regenerate the native landscapes of Aotearoa. We work with like-minded organisations and landowners to achieve this, and this nomination shows what can be achieved when passion meets purpose.

THE REGENERATION GAME: OUR GOALS

Grow native forest

We aim to restore 20,000 hectares of land into native forests by 2025. So far, we are protecting 5,000 hectares and registered these under the Emissions Trading Scheme. Our goal is to have 200 Forever Forests projects across the country by 2025. 

Make carbon mitigation easy

We currently have around 50 New Zealand businesses and individuals who support Forever Forests native projects, removing 40,000 tonnes of carbon. We are committed to expanding our support to more than 200 New Zealand businesses and individuals who want to support native projects. 

Connect land and people

Staff members from businesses who support our projects are welcome to visit the forests and assist in planting and any forest management tasks. Moreover, our forests offer various community engagement and recreational activities, bringing people of diverse backgrounds together.

Make it sustainable

Our efforts have helped rural communities establish sustainable, healthy land, creating new job opportunities and increased revenue. Over 50 landowners are restoring their land into native forests, providing alternative income sources and broadening their livelihood options.
